1. The shedding of innocent blood is a great evil (2 Kings 24:2-4) that, in at least one time, was not forgiven by God.
2. Killing or sacrificing children was/is shedding innocent blood (Ezekiel 23:37, Psalm 106:35-38).
-
So, abortion violates the sixth commandment—“Do not murder.” Abortion is shedding innocent blood.
-
People in the Old Testament sacrificed children to Molech in a gruesome ritual because they believed that doing so would grant them greater personal prosperity. Abortion today operates the same way. People think they will have a better life if they get an abortion. So, they sacrifice a life in hopes of keeping their own life.
3. All life is given by God, for His glory, and He opens the womb (Genesis 29:31, 30:2). All children are God’s children, not ours. Therefore, aborting a child is killing God’s child (Ezekiel 16:20-21).
-
It does not matter how a child is conceived—there are no accidents in God's eyes. Every conception is from God.
4. Biblically, a unique person is recognized, not only upon, but even before conception takes place. A person is fully known by God before they are formed in the womb (Psalm 139:16, Jeremiah 1:5).
-
God has days (a life) intended for every child that’s conceived. Abortion terminates that life.
5. Children are a gift and a blessing (Psalm 127:3). They should never be seen as a burden.
