Why is Homosexuality Sinful?
1. In the beginning, God created male and female with distinctly different characteristics, and He created male and female to be joined together in marriage (Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 2:24-25, Mark 10:6-9).
-
By God's design, a marriage is only between male and female. When a man and woman marry, they are joined together by God.
*People commonly purport that the Bible does not explicitly speak of a “loving and monogamous” homosexual marriage. It doesn't need to.
-
The only marriage that God recognizes is between male and female. If a person engages in a homosexual marriage, they are not joined together by God. So, a homosexual marriage isn't a marriage at all.
-
Besides, the Bible is clear that homosexuality, in any context, is especially sinful—an abomination, in fact (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13).
-
A homosexual person will not inherit the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9-10).
-
2. Homosexuality is sinful because it is against our God given nature and a harmful dishonor to one's body (Romans 1:26-27).
-
The fact that homosexuality, amongst other forms of sexual immorality, causes STDs demonstrates that the act is sinful (Romans 1:27b), since anything that leads to death is sin (Romans 6:23).
3. Homosexuality is caused by believing a lie, and “worshipping and serving the creature rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:25).
-
In order for a person to give in to homosexual tendencies, they must first believe a lie about themselves (the lie that they were made homosexual). Then they must ignore the Creator (God) and instead obey the desires of their own body (fallen creation).
4. To reach someone who is homosexual is simple. Give them time and attention; don't treat them as an outcast. Don't talk to them just because they're “different”. Talk to them because they're human.
-
This works because they are often treated differently by many. This is a way to adapt to them, for the gospel's sake (1 Corinthians 9:19-23).
-
When a relationship is formed, preach the gospel boldly.
