Read Matthew 6:31-33 – Put first the needs of God's kingdom, and being righteous.

  • Being of value to the kingdom means putting first what the kingdom needs / values

What does the kingdom value?

  • Read Luke 15:1-10, Mark 2:17

  • The kingdom values souls – people saved and living obediently. To do this, build relationships like Jesus did.

    • And as Matthew 6:33 reminds us, this means live obediently yourself also.

In relationships:

  • Read Matthew 19:13-15, Matthew 18:1-4 – For yourself, be teachable and seeking wisdom always, trusting the Word quickly like an innocent child.

  • For others, be brutally honest like children are. And...

  • Read Matthew 20:26-28 – Sacrifice what you value to put others first when needed, to help them follow Christ's ways.

Final scripture:

Read 2 Timothy 2:20-26

  • Summary: To be useful to God, cleanse yourself from and flee sin, and hang out with others doing the same.

  • Towards others in sin, don't argue, but correct them to help them repent.

Tying it all together:

  • You have to be teachable (always asking questions) like a child to do this.

  • Then sacrifice your time to serve others by building relationships.

  • Be brutally honest with those friends to help them repent and obey God.

Important Clarification — Everyone Has a Role in the Kingdom

Being valuable to the kingdom does NOT mean everyone must become an evangelist or build a public ministry.

  • The kingdom and the Son being glorfied in all things is what God values.

2 Corinthians 5:20

“We are ambassadors for Christ...”

Every Christian represents the kingdom through the way they live. Living honorably matters for bringing glory to the kingdom. Read 1 Peter 2:12.

You honor God when you:

  • work diligently,

  • become financially responsible,

  • keep your word,

  • honor your spouse,

  • submit to biblical roles in marriage,

  • raise your children well,

  • stay disciplined,

  • care for your health,

  • strengthen your body,

  • and live a stable, obedient life.

These things matter because they reflect God’s order and character. A chaotic, lazy, undisciplined life poorly represents the kingdom.

People watch how you live.

Your everyday life is ministry. Not everyone will stand behind a pulpit — but every Christian is called to represent the King well.
