Psalm 52

Written on 05/09/2024

Verses 1-5

  • Wicked people will do evil, but God's goodness will outlast all evil. Let this give you hope!

    • God Himself will destroy the wicked.

Verses 6-8

  • Knowing God's judgment on the wicked should give us both fear and reverence for God, because of His judgment, but also a sense of joy and laughter. How so?

    • We fear God's judgment, and we are thankful that we have escaped it.

    • And once we know the how important it is to repent and trust in Jesus, it's actually laughable for someone to trust in their own power or riches.

      • We can laugh about the stupidity of trusting in evil, showing the confidence that we have, conversely, in God

        • We trust in God's mercy to save us, and this makes us thrive.

      • But do not rejoice or take pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11), for such is a sad thing.

Verse 9

  • Praise God for His justice!

  • And it is important, when around other believers, to be patient for God's judgment on evil to come, because you know that God is good! This will encourage others.
