- Read your Bible every day (Romans 12:2).
- Meal-plan to ensure that what you eat is healthy.
- Eat well-rounded meals, and primarily drink water (plenty of it) (Genesis 1:29, Genesis 9:3, Daniel 1:12, 1 Timothy 4:4).
-
Thankfully eat every “creature of God” (foods that God made). Eating man-made chemicals and additives is against the Word.
-
Taking medicinal supplements to improve your health is also acceptable (1 Timothy 5:23).
-
-
Don't overeat (Proverbs 25:16, Proverbs 23:20-21). Eat only as much as your body needs to meet your health or fitness goals.
-
Eat only a little bit of sweets (Proverbs 25:16,27).
-
Don't eat what you know causes harm to your body (don't “sin against your own body” [1 Corinthians 6:18]) (James 4:17).
-
Regularly meet with believers who are disciplined with their diets, to encourage you to eat better (Hebrews 10:24-25).
-
To build self-control, get vigorous exercise every week (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
-
To increase self-control, get vigorous exercise at least 3-4 times per week (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
-
To continue to increase self-discipline and self-control, fast (eating no calories and drinking only water) for a full 24 hours once per week (Psalm 35:13, Psalm 69:10). Pray, while fasting, for greater self-control in the area of gluttony.
- Do at least one longer fast (3 days or more), and plan to do longer fasts on a regular basis.
