The Great Tribulation happens in three waves, each involving seven different judgment. The first wave is the seven seals, the second is the seven trumpets, and the third is the seven bowls. Revelation 6 through Revelation 8:1-6 describes the seven seal judgments.
Verses 1-8
-
When the end begins, there will be many distresses. The first events will include the arrival of the antichrist—a conquering one. Then there will be an increase of violence, warfare, and scarcity of resources.
-
Prepare for this by saving up money and commodities, and learning basics of self-defense, including how to handle a firearm.
-
*Keep in mind that there are five primary things that believers will need in order to do well during the end:
-
Patience
-
Knowledge
-
Survival skills (including self-defense and operating firearms)
-
Physical fitness (muscle density and endurance)
-
Ability to operate as a unit with the church
Build your patience, increase your understanding of the Word, learn basic survival skills, work out and eat well, and be in close unity with fellow believers...these things will help to prepare you.
Verses 9-11
-
Next there will be great persecution. There will be more martyrdom than ever in the history of the world. Many believers will be killed.
-
Our job is to choose life—to survive by any means possible. Believers who will be able to survive well must be able to control their emotions and not become dismayed by seeing fellow believers killed.
-
You can prepare for this by learning to stay calm under fire. Practice being calm and at peace during hard times and you will grow.
-
-
And trust that God will give you strength for this time of the end. Persecution will bring you closer to Christ, so do not fear it!
-
Verses 12-17
-
The world will suffer greatly from the wrath of God, and people will be paralyzed with fear (Luke 21:26).
-
As believers, we do not have to fear this, as we are not appointed to God's wrath (1 Thessalonians 5:9). We will, however, suffer persecution, so we must be prepared for this (Philippians 1:29).
