Verses 1-5

Wicked people will do evil, but God's goodness will outlast all evil. Let this give you hope!

God Himself will destroy the wicked.

Verses 6-8

Knowing God's judgment on the wicked should give us both fear and reverence for God, because of His judgment, but also a sense of joy and laughter. How so?

We fear God's judgment, and we are thankful that we have escaped it.

And once we know the how important it is to repent and trust in Jesus, it's actually laughable for someone to trust in their own power or riches.

We can laugh about the stupidity of trusting in evil, showing the confidence that we have, conversely, in God.

We trust in God's mercy to save us, and this makes us thrive.

But do not rejoice or take pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11), for such is a sad thing.

Verse 9

Praise God for His justice!

And it is important, when around other believers, to be patient for God's judgment on evil to come, because you know that God is good! This will encourage others.
