Verses 1-14

  • Listen closely to what the Word says here about sin.

  • Sexual immorality, and sin in general, seem desirable and attractive, but the end of choosing sin is always death (Romans 6:21).

    • Verse 8. The best way to avoid sin is to stay as far away from it as possible.Don't even get close, or you will be tempted more.

      • If you don't want to sin, don't put yourself in situations where you know you'll be tempted more.

    • Verses 9-11. If you stay in sin, people will lose respect for you, your sin will rob your money, and it will bring sicknesses to your body at last. Your life will be cut short.

  • Verses 12-14. Remember that you can avoid all this pain if you just listen to what the Word says

    • God knows what will cause you pain. You don't have to go and experience sin for yourself in order to learn. Just trust the wisdom of the Bible. It's chocked full with God's thoughts and thousands of years of experience, all in one book!

Verses 15-20

  • Verse 18. Marriage done God's way is better than sexual immorality. A godly marriage is blessed by God.

    • Verses 15-18. Get married, and enjoy sexual activity in marriage.

    • Verse 19. If your mind and marriage stay godly, you will always be satisfied with your spouse's care. But sin never satisfies (Proverbs 27:20).

    • Verse 20. A godly marriage will help to keep you away from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 7:2 KJV).

Verses 21-23

  • Verse 21. God knows all of our actions, whether they are right or wrong.

  • If we do not follow what God knows is right, and instead choose what is wrong, we will cause our own pain and destruction. Our own sin causes our pain.

  • In the end, we die because we do not receive God's correction in His Word.

    • Do not be foolish. Listen to what the Word says, and do it!
