11:1-5
-
This passage speaks to both the first and second coming of Christ. Christ into the world from the lineage of King David, whose father was Jesse.
-
Verse 2. While here on earth, Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and power (Acts 10:38).
-
And the Holy Spirit contains all of these characteristics, along with the gifts of the Spirit described in 1 Corinthians 12.
-
Because we possess the Spirit, as believers, the Spirit gives us abilities and qualities to help us in this life.
-
-
-
Verse 3. Jesus did not and does not speak or make judgments based on feelings that come from the natural senses, but based on objective right and wrong from God.
-
Be like Jesus. “Don't judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:24). Make decisions, evaluations, and come to conclusions based on what the Word says, not based on arbitrary feelings.
-
-
Verse 4. Jesus will return one day to judge the earth, and this will mean destroying the wicked (2 Thessalonians 2:8).
11:6-16
-
Verses 6-8. After Jesus' Second Coming, there will be a time of global peace, and even nature will change. Predatory animals will be pacified.
-
Verses 11-16. The Jewish people will be gathered a final time from around the world...a final exodus of sorts; and wars will cease.
-
There will also be a gathering of believers to Christ when He returns (Matthew 24:30-31).
-
-
Verses 9-10. All these things will happen because the whole earth will have a relational knowledge of God, as Christ will be on earth personally, ruling over the nations.
-
Let this knowledge give you hope of the future of the earth!
12:1-6
-
Before the time of Christ's return, there is great wrath and judgment on the earth for the wicked. But after His return, the new age comes where all His anger is turned away, all things are made new, and all believers will be comforted.
-
When this day comes, we will worship and praise God in a renewed trust and joy in Him.
