To be humble and battle off pride, do the following. Jesus summed up humility in this way:
-
Be child-like (Matthew 18:1-5).
-
Be brutally honest,
-
See others as better than you,
-
Ask lots of questions (including seeking correction, greater understanding, and help).
-
Serve others (Matthew 20:25-28).
-
Think of how to best serve God's kingdom, and then think of how to serve others for the benefit of God's kingdom.

Take steps to implement the changes/actions you see below. Once you are actively doing something on the list, and you've made it a habit, move on to forming a habit doing the next item on the list. Take it a step at a time, but feel free to do multiple things on the list at once if you can!
- Read your Bible every day (Romans 12:2).
- Go to wise believers and ask them to correct you on something, and receive their correction warmly (Proverbs 12:1).
- Ask wise believers for advice in areas you think you're already knowledgeable in, to show that you want to learn more (Romans 12:16).
- Stay conscious of how you can serve others—how you can do for them what's best for the kingdom—rather than what your flesh might want (Matthew 23:11, Philippians 2:8).
- Don't praise yourself or your achievements, but only let others compliment you (Proverbs 27:2).
- Quickly admit it when you're wrong, rather than arguing (Proverbs 28:13).
- Speak the truth to others rather than flattering them (Jude 1:16).
