Verses 1-5

  • As a person who will be married, much of the good or bad that you will experience in your future depends on who you choose to marry.

    • It is important to choose the right spouse if you want to have a blessed life. Choose wisely.

    • If you are already married, focusing on making your marriage godly will bring some of the greatest blessing to you. Prioritize your marriage.

Verses 6-9

  • Esau held on to his sin, and then tried to add one good thing to his life, in an attempt to make his parents happier.

    • Adding one or a few good things to your life does not make up for the sin that you aren't repenting of

      • Both God and the people around you will not be happier just because you do a few good things. What matters is whether you stop the evil you're doing.

Verses 10-22

  • Jacob did not expect the presence of God in the place where he slept—a dull, stony terrain.

    • But, as with Jacob, God is with us everywhere that we go. We can experience God anywhere

    • Be mindful of God wherever you are. Do not think that there is any place or situation where it's unimportant to acknowledge God or ask what you can do to bring glory to God's name.
