Verses 1-9

It will end badly for us if we trust in worldly things, no matter how powerful they may seem. Inevitably, anything that we do without looking to God for help—without seeking the counsel of His Word—will fail.

To create an idol is to create sin. Anything that steals your attention or focus away from God has become sinful. To turn to God and trust in Him, get rid of anything that distracts you from Him!

In the end, faithfulness to God will bring miraculous rewards.

For the inhabitants of Judah, in this time, God delivered them from the threats of the Assyrians. 185,000 men of the Assyrian army that were destroyed by an angel of God in one night (see 1 Kings 19)!
