If we are going to be close to God and secure in our lives, we do have to live by godly principles. Deep intimacy with God is only experienced by those who live godly lives.

If you want to be strong and close to God:

Verse 2. Do what God's Word says:

Verse 2b. Think and speak honestly and sincerely. Do not lie.

Verse 3. Don't gossip, do harm to others, or talk negatively about others.

Verse 4a. Hate sin, and don't show affirmation for any sinful person's lifestyle.

Verse 4b. Deeply respect godly people.

Verse 4c. Always do what you say you're going to do, even if it will hurt you. Don't go back on your word.

Verse 5. Don't misuse your money.
