Verses 1-15
-
There are few people believers that have such great turmoil as those who feel forsaken or forgotten by God. Asaph cried out to God in anguish because, for a time, he wasn't sure that God would return to him in grace and forgiveness.
-
Notice, however, that he did not cease to seek God diligently. The worst thing that you can do when you are turmoiled is to give up on prayer or seeking God. Seek and you shall find. Answers will come if you don't give up on seeking them.

-
For Asaph, the answer came. God comforted him by reminding him of all His works in the past. God was assuring Asaph that just as He was faithful in the past, He would be faithful in the present.
-
When you are struggling in the present, recall what God has done in the past. Meditate deeply on all that you have to be thankful for—all that God has done for you already. Also use your words to speak of these things out loud in prayer. This will encourage you.
-
Verse 13. Also remember God's works in His “sanctuary”, which would be your own person. You are the temple for God's Spirit, as a believer (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Focus on praising God for His work of salvation in your own being, and you won't fail to see God's presence in your life.

Verses 16-20
-
When the Israelites were delivered out of Egypt, God showed His power in orchestrating the waters of the Red Sea, thunders, and lightnings to make a path to safety for His people. It has remained a great encouragement for all God's people to remember this great day (Passover).
-
God's great work of salvation for us is the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. Remember this day more often than any other.
-
If God went to such great extents to show His power and love then, how much more will He save you today? See Romans 5:8-9.
