Verses 1-11

  • Verse 1. Our faith and our obedience will be tested (2 Corinthians 2:9). The harder tests of our obedience come when our faith is greater

    • You will only be tested with what you can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13).

  • Verse 2,12. In order to be people of great faithwe must show that there is nothing we won't do to obey God, no matter how hard or uncomfortable it is. Great faith is great obedience, and great obedience is great faith.

    • It is important that we learn to obey when it is hard. Welcome hard choices, and know that choosing what is right in hard times is great for your faith.

Verses 12-14

  • God won't let you lose anything that is truly necessary for His plan for you and for you to follow Him obediently. He provides everything that is needed.

  • Abraham did not make any excuses, and he trusted that if Isaac was needed, he would be raised from the dead afterwards (Hebrews 11:19).

    • Do not make excuses for disobedience. You are always able to choose obedience, like Abraham knew he was able, even if he had to sacrifice his own child. Obedience will always lead to good in the end.

      • There is no obedience that's too hard for someone who has great trust in God.

Verses 15-19

  • Your obedience affects more than just you. When we are obedient to God, it brings great blessing and to more people than we could possibly imagine

    • When you think to obey, remember how good it will be for the people around you (Romans 13:9).
