Verses 1-7
-
Abimelech was sincere in pursuing Sarah. He thought that she was unmarried. For this reason, God showed him mercy and actually prevented him from sinning, by giving him a warning.
-
We can learn from this that God never leaves us without a warning if we are about to sin. At the very least, our conscience will convict us (Romans 2:15).
-
Pay attention to your conscience. If you feel any doubt that an action is right, it is sin to you (see Romans 14:22-23).

Verses 8-18
-
Verses 9-10. Remember, lying is selfish, inconsiderate, and unloving to the people you're lying to. It puts them in danger, often, like it did with Abimelech.
-
Proverbs 26:28 says that a person who lies hates the person they are lying to. You are showing hate if you lie. Lying is very serious to God. Do not lie.
