The Glory of God

God created everything to show His might and power, which causes Him to receive glory Isaiah 43:7 and Revelation 4:11. Glory is praise and honor.

However, God does not need us to glorify Him Acts 17:25. He is glorified in Himself John 17:5. So, He made His creation so that we would experience His greatness and ultimately enjoy Him forever, ideally through relationship with Him in His kingdom Revelation 21:3-7 and 2 Corinthians 6:16-18. We exist because God is awesome, and it is a privilege know Him!

For bonus reading, read Isaiah 43:1-17 and Ezekiel 20:1-44.

Today's Action

As you read, think about what it means that God is doing everything for His own glory or "for the sake of His great name, that it may not be profaned". Do something today that you know will bring honor to God's name. This usually looks like doing something that will help someone else think of God in an honorable or pleasant light. For example, you could go to someone who knows you're a believer and simply do something kind for them. Take this action as a mindset into your future. Do everything for God's glory!
