Day 3 - Reading Assignment

Written on 06/16/2024

Improve your reading with deeper, topical studies. Beyond casual reading, to simply refresh your mind, deep study of the Bible helps us address specific life issues and reinforces our spiritual foundation, enabling targeted growth and strengthening of faith.

To support your repentance and maximize growth, study topics. Study topics in the Word that speak to where you're struggling, and the solutions to those struggles. This is how you can use the Word to renew your mind in specific areas.

Ways to study topics:

  1. Use a search engine to search for scriptures based on keywords of your choice.
  2. Use a Greek/Hebrew concordance to search for other verses that use the same topical word that you see in one verse of your liking.
  3. Read through Old Testament stories, the Four Gospels, and Acts, in the Bible, and look for examples of your chosen topic/characteristic in use or application 1 Corinthians 10:11. Overall, as long as you need to grow in a certain area, as you read, watch for passages related to your area of need, and learn from them.

Read Psalm 1:

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Read Joshua 1:1-9

Joshua 1:1-9

Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,

Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.

There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
