Verses 1-6

God saved Paul from any harm that would have been caused by a venomous snake bite (Mark 16:18).

Paul was spared from death because God had promised that he would testify at Rome, so Paul knew that he would not die.

Do not test God or act foolishly by putting yourself in situations that would threaten your life. But, understand that God will spare your life from anything that would stop His will/plan for your life from coming to pass.

Verses 7-10

Paul served people's needs everywhere that he went, and miracles happened. Even when he was shipwrecked on an island, he paid attention to people.

Purpose to help people everywhere, and pray for people for healing if you want to. People will also want to help you if you do this.

Verses 11-16

The Romans trusted Paul and gave him more freedom, even as a prisoner, because of his honorable character. Be trustworthy, and people will trust you!
Verses 17-23

Paul appealed to Caesar, coming to Rome as an innocent prisoner, not to pick a fight in court, but to gain an opportunity to speak to more people in Rome, including the Jews he spoke to here.

Always act for the purpose of helping more people, not to create conflict or prove yourself right.

Paul preached and explained the gospel, using every part of the Bible that he could.

Do your best to know your Bible! Skill in explaining the Word is great for leading people to Christ.

Verses 24-31

Understand that no matter how effective you are at explaining the gospel, some people will believe, and some people will not. Some people are and will remain blinded.

Don't worry about those who will not listen.

Verses 30-31. Be willing to speak with anyone who wants to speak with you, and who will listen. And speak with confidence!
