Acts 26

Verses 1-11

  • Verses 1-8. The hope of eternal life is attaining the resurrection from the dead (Philippians 3:10-11)—living forever in a new, immortal body with Christ.

    • This hope of eternal life is what the Jews wanted, but they persecuted Paul for telling them how to attain it.

  • Verses 9-11. Paul not only imprisoned Christians, but he participated in torturing them, trying to force them to deny Christ.

    • Still, Paul was saved. His testimony proves Jesus' resurrection and the power of it.

      • Remember that your story—how you became obedient to Christ—is an important part of your message and what will point others to Jesus.

Verses 12-23

  • Jesus appeared to Saul/Paul in order to make him a witness, and to turn people away from Satan and their sins, to a relationship with God.

    • Share with others that coming to Christ is also being saved from the enslavement of sin and from the power of the devil. The reward is forgiveness and a place in heaven.

  • The things that you experience and learn about Jesus are to be shared with others, ultimately to save them. You are meant to be living evidence of the resurrection and the power of Jesus Christ.

    • Remember, Christ is revealed to you, so that you can reveal Him to others (Galatians 1:15-16).

      • Seek God, for a relationship with Him, but also remember that your experiences with God are meant to help others come to know Christ. Learn in order to serve and help others!

  • Verse 20. Repentance includes changing your actions. A person hasn't repented if their actions are not changing.

    • Keep improving your actions, in order to continue your repentance; and urge others to do the same.

Verses 24-29

  • Understand that some people will think that you're crazy for following Jesus!

    • Still, be confident about your faith, and tell people that what you believe is truly based on sound reason. The gospel is truth, not fantasy!

Verses 30-32

  • Like Paul, strive to do nothing deserving of death or imprisonment, but don't be afraid of any of it.
