Verses 1-7

  • Verse 1. These widows were not receiving the financial support that they needed. No one should be neglected in a community, for any reason.

  • Verse 2-3. To make sure no one is neglected in anything, work together. Delegate responsibility to people. If someone needs help, and you don't have the time or there is someone else better qualified for the need, send them instead.

    • When you are sending someone to do something important, especially in handling money, make sure that they are known to be wise and upstanding by everyone around them (1 Timothy 3:8-13).

  • Verses 5-7. The Word of God is able to spread more effectively when we are good at delegating responsibilities.

    • Do not try to do important things by yourself. Get help, and you will be more effective.

    • Jesus Himself operated by delegating responsibility (Luke 10:1).

Verses 8-15

  • Verse 8. When we are full of faith we will see signs and wonders.

    • Grow your faith through obedience to the Word and you will see more miracles.

  • Verse 10. Also see Luke 21:13-14, Mark 13:11. Stephen spoke under the influence of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

    • When your wisdom comes from the Word of God, it cannot be defeated.

    • Do not rely on logical arguments when you are challenged on what you believe.

      • Trust that the Word of God is enough wisdom for you, and that the Holy Spirit will help youLearning to hear from the Holy Spirit will help greatly.
