Verses 1-8
-
It brings joy to see loved ones walking in genuine faith. But genuine faith requires action.
-
If you have faith, use the gifts you've been given! Using your gifts—putting your abilities into action that will help others—will help to keep your faith active.
-
Verses 7-8. Don't be afraid to take action, nor be afraid of persecution, as this kind of fear does not come from God.
-
Remember that God gives power, love, and a sound mind.
-
To keep a sound mind, read and meditate in the Word daily. This will fix your thinking so that you can repent from fears.

Verses 9-12
-
God chose to save us before time. This proves that salvation was a choice of His own, out of His own kindness, that we did not earn nor deserve (Ephesians 2:8-9).
-
Jesus came to reveal this salvation—which was that death would be ended, and we would be given eternal life in immortal bodies.
-
Knowing the greatness of this message, preach it boldly and do not be ashamed of it, nor of persecution from others for your faith (Romans 1:16).
-
Know who you believe, not just the message you believe. You trust in Christ, and Christ is powerful to protect both you and your salvation (1 Peter 1:5, John 10:28), so don't be afraid!
-
Verses 13-14
-
Be careful, when you share the Word, to teach it clearly and accurately, and in the right attitude—out of your own faith and love (see 1 Timothy 1:3-7).
-
Studying and sharing scripture is not to be an intellectual exercise or philosophical entertainment. It is meant to be shared out of sincere belief and genuine love for others.
-
Verses 15-18
-
You don't want to be known for deserting Christ or His people.
-
Do good and show kindness to other believers, and refresh them often.
